FAQs
- +Getting Started?
- Drop us a quick email saying you are interested in coming along. Training is FREE for the first week. Check our training times and try and arrive 5 minutes for the class
- +What should I wear?
- Loose, lightweight clothing is ideal. A T-shirt and shorts down to the knee or tracksuit bottoms are good. There is no special clothing requirement for our MMA classes. If you decide to come on a regular basis, we provide affordable ‘Kabahi’ branded clothing that you can purchase.
All jewellery must be removed (or taped over) and long hair should be tied back
- +Does it matter that I have no fitness?
- We take students at all fitness levels – from couch potatoes to superheroes:)
Regular training will improve both your physical and mental fitness along with endurance and flexibility. Your aerobic capacity and strength will also be improved.
- +How much do lessons cost?
- The charge is £7.50 per 2-hour class. You can pay as you go. You may want to consider paying monthly as you will save money. The cost is £60 per month
Kids can train for just £5.00/week and this includes training up to three times a week on Mon/Wed/Fri
- +Benefits of training?
- Training regularly in MMA will improve your fitness, coordination, flexibility and balance as well as your capacity to deal with aggression.
It is also very good for developing the kind of self-awareness and mental toughness that can lead to an increase in self-confidence.
- +How frequently should students come to class
- We recommend coming along twice a week. This will ensure good technical progress as well as a gradual increase in fitness.
However, many students can only commit to coming once a week which is absolutely fine.
- +Will I get hurt?
- We strive to provide a safe training environment for all concerned. Most of us have to get up in the morning and go to work all look after the kids.
However, it is a contact sport and inevitably injuries and accidents do happen from time to time. These normally take the form of slight sprains and minor bruising.
All strikes and kicks are done with control – meaning that only the lightest of contact with the body is allowed.
- +Can women train as welll?
- If we’ve learned anything in our years of teaching, it is that girls are just as tough as boys. Many are even tougher! Women are very welcome to join our MMA club.
MMA is a great form of self-defence for the street. Most of the techniques don’t require strength (just knowledge) so is ideal for women’s self defence
- +How to get to The Rainbow Centre by Bus?
- The 307, 326 and 34 buses all stop close to the rainbow centre
